The only thing that kept me reading this book was I wanted to find out what the big finale LeMerle had planned was. Other than that I found this book a waste of time. I didn't feel there was any substance to it, the characters seemed half-developed and thrown in there, and the mini-mystery was the only thing that kept the book flowing.

Harris's writing was gorgeous, mind you, but a little too much at times. In she writes in sort of a braggart manner, showing off her abilities with words. It's nice at first, but grows old fast.

There was something else missing with this book that I can't quite put my finger on. I don't know what it is, but what ever was missing was something that kept me drawn into the book. This was one of those books, while I followed it, I just never got into it. I would be easily distracted with it, and I found myself frequently putting the book down. It's not "a book you can't put down." Quite the opposite.
