J.K. Rowling's talent is sometimes overshadowed by her popularity, but she is truly a gifted writer. The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a nice mix of fresh and familiar, stretching Harry Potter's world to new and interesting directions. While the stories are well-crafted--and feel like real folk tales--the literary commentary by Albus Dumbledore is what I enjoy most about this collection. My only complaint is that this tome is just too short!
