bookshelves: romance, historical, time, travel

Clare is on a holiday in Scotland with her genealogy loving husband when she is suddenly transported back in time. She appears in the midst of a skirmish between the English and a band of Scottish highlanders. She ends up being swooped up by the highlanders and, though they are suspicious of her for being an English "outlander" she gradually finds acceptance from them. She becomes deeply involved with on of their men named Jamie, and has to choose between this new love she has found and her past (or future?) love and marriage from the 20th century. So there is a love story full of hard choices for the lovers, and a ton of historical detail as Clare adjusts to her new life. It's a long but satisfying romance read, beloved by romance fans everywhere so one you don't want to miss. [return](note, it does have pretty explicit sex scenes, so keep that in mind if that bother you).
