This is the second work I've read by Jacquelyn Frank and I'm happy to say I liked it. I read a fair bit of paranormal romance and while I enjoy a good one, it does tend to get old rather quickly. For this reason I was thrilled to see that this was a sci-fi romance. I immediately thought of the fantastic League Series by Sherilyn Kenyon, as it is the only other SFR I've had an opportunity to read.
The good: I liked the main characters a lot. Some of my favorite SF features marines and their witty banter and cavalier yet loving attitude with each other- and this was no exception. The universe in which the story takes place was very well developed and the foreshadowing towards future books really intrigued me. The dialog was especially well written.
The problem: I found the romance portion of this book kind of lackluster. Maybe that's the fault of reading way way too much JR Ward, but I don't think so. I remember really loving the pair I read in (what I believe was) Jacob. Hopefully the next Three Worlds novel will feature a pair that I feel clicks better- and more steamily.
On the whole: a fun read, in an extremely fascinating universe, with a so-so pairing.
