A novel deeply critical of colonialism by a Sudanese author. The protagonist/narrator returns to his native village in the 1960s, after studying obscure poets in Europe and learns that a new resident of his village was also a student in Europe some 30 years prior. His haunting story is both fascinating and horrifying. Themes include racism, post-colonialism and sexism.
