During the depression, a advertisement appears in the newspaper, offering money to people who write their stories of hardships. The author's grandfather was the person who wrote the advertisment and the author, Ted Gup, finds his grandfather's suitcase which has all of the letters contained within. Ted Gup, the author, explores his family genealogy and the secrets that families share. The author also has done extensive research on finding family members of people that wrote letters and even one person that was still alive. Could be dry at times, but if you have an interest in genealogy and history this book is for you.
