Lucy is quite a lady, and her life spans such changes. I think I would like to read her actual memoirs next. Morehead is exhaustive in "setting the scene" of what is happening in France around Lucy, and sometimes it gets to be a bit tedious. But Lucy's abilities to survive the tumult following the French revolution along with personal tragedies kept me reading. Lucy makes a fascinating mirror for her times.
