Goodreads First Reads copy

Like another of Ms. Frank's books that I read, this one started a bit slow. It did pick up somewhere between chapters four and six for me and I ended up really enjoying it. I would have given it 3 1/2 stars - it wasn't quite a 4 for me. Overall, a good, solid start to a promising series.

I liked the world-building and the fact that the book was set in another planetary system. Very sci-fi, lots of tech and interplanetary travel - a nice departure from what I have been reading.

We are introduced to two separate groups - a Spec Ops militia team and two captured Chosen Ones. Along the way, the two groups meet and their partnership is the beginning of this series. Book One centers around the leaders of the militia team (First Actives, which are the best of the best) and the Chosen Ones (a group of individuals that possess a great many psionic talents). Tons of action, steamy love scenes and some interesting characters makes this a series that I will definitely continue.
