An interesting book - I'm still not sure what to make of it. For a while, in the middle of the romance with Patrice Clair, I thought I was reading a take on The House of Mirth. Hmmm, just realized that also like Mirth, Lacey's life is related by an interested but removed male narrator.

I enjoyed the setting of the New York art world (new to me, interesting, felt real, felt known). Lacey herself was sometimes too good to be true, and sometimes too bad to be true. But then I found myself thinking "what if a real person did act this way?" Surely someone must.

In the end, I don't think I was quite satisfied, but I was left thinking/mulling, which is a good thing.
