Sports agent Myron Bolitar is representing rookie football star, Christian Steele. His contract negotiations are in the works when a mysterious envelope appears in Christian's mail. It's a pornographic magazine containing a picture of his former fiance who disappeared (and was presumed dead) 18 months earlier.
This is the first Harlan Coben novel, and the first I have read. I LOVED this book. It doesn't provide any awe-inspiring insights into life, but it drips with sarcasm. Myron is just a fun character. He has a naivity to him in that he wants to "do the right thing." Which is in itself ironic considering he's a sports agent. His friend and partner, Winston, breaks all stereotypes while he represents the ultimate stereotype, the WASP. Together, they are hilarious.
And the plot of this novel is superb! Coben keeps things circling around the major characters with so many unconnected clues that the ending is hard to predict...I didn't predict it at all. I love...more
