This is a story of food and war told by a courageous freelance war correspondent from NY that marries a Lebanese Shiite and lives with him in Baghdad and his mother in Beirut.
The author candidly shows what everyday life is like in war zones and gives invaluable background on Arabic language, culture, and food. There are great sounding Lebanese and Iraqi recipes, too. I am making the Lebanese hummus and chicken stock this week!
