it was amazing

I was advised to read the title story of this collection by Donna Haraway because she thought it might help inform some of the conclusions I reached in my dissertation. It didn't; yet these very interesting, enlightening and compactly interrelated stories are quite good. They focus on extraordinary people in many different times and places who are interested, in several ways, in science. Indeed, science, in various disciplines, informs the lives of all the characters: it's personal and academic in scope. Barrett's prose is smooth and polished. Quite enjoyable and worth rereading.
