it was ok
bookshelves: fantasy, magical, mystery, romance, series

As with all YA series fiction, it seems that they keep getting longer and longer. The only series that I've discovered stays within the limits is Ellen Schreiber's Vampire Kisses (love it!) At 350-some odd pages, things are getting too convoluted for my tasks. I want the plain ol' love triangle between Tamani, David, and Laurel, with a threat to their lives, more descriptions of Avalon and it's beauty. But instead, there are these twists and turns and "never expected" fae that crawl out of the woodwork while trying to fight the trolls and keep Avalon safe. It reminds me of the last book in the Twilight series (ick) and how right at the last minute the author comes up with something that "isn't possible" and makes it possible to fill a void.

Love the cover and characters and their struggles with adolescence while also being gatekeepers for a magical world, but not it's getting a bit much.
