I read this to try to understand motherhood better. And in some ways I did. In that I realised further that it's a closed world to those who haven't experienced it. That it has very strange and profound effects on a woman. And that it's not something I'd like to try. But my one comfort is that this book is proof that a writer and thinking woman can embark on it and survive and come out the other side relatively sound.
