I'm glad I read this book, if only so I could enjoy the goodreads reviews panning it. I did actually enjoy reading the book as well, though-- the novelty of a murder mystery where the murderer is revealed in the first chapter, but there's still suspense to be had was entertaining. I also didn't find the writing to be quite as bad in context as it looks in soundbytes. The whole point of metaphors is their originality. (Okay, not the whole point, and maybe "ferocious olives" as a metaphor for someone's eyes is a step too far.)
