** spoiler alert ** Good entertainment -- and an interesting introduction to the notion of "smart matter" from the inside out. If everything around you was smart (but was flawed in that it wouldn't recognize you as intelligent!) what would it be like?

Three viewpoints (native, outsider, invader) interlock.

I read it because it was free at, but I'll keep an eye out for Schroeder's other works now.
