I am torn with this book. I think I have a love/hate relationship with the August men. First, let me say that I really liked Brock. He is definately sexy, and like almost all Lora Leigh books he is a likeable-hell even loveable Alpha hero.

I even thought he was well matched with Sarah. She was weak at first, but as the book progressed she became stronger as a person and was well matched for sexy Brock.

Here was my problem with the book...I guess to some, the set up in the August household would be some women's fantasy...three sexy brothers (of course all have hang up by the abuse they endured together) having to openly share one another's girlfriends, then come back to you afterward...ummm not for me. I'm too selfish, plus I don't want to see the one I love boinking another woman...even if she is your would be sister-in-law. I didn't blame Sarah for putting up the good fight, and not wanting to conform to this. But, If you want an August man, you must be prepared to be shared with the other brothers...its all or nothing.

Of course, I know this is fantasy. But, although I have read several menage books-and admittedly they aren't always my favorite-the excuse for the sharing didn't cut it for me much. But this is my opinion. But, oddly I really liked this book. I thought it was much better than Colters' Woman. I liked the characters and I even look forward to reading the others...despite my feelings on the sharing business...I told you I had a love/hate relationship with them...how can I resist them...lol

Laura Great review! I haven't read this series yet, but like you the set-up would be a turnoff for me, too. Thanks for the warning! *grin*

Auntee I'm with you Daisiemae--how could this ever 'work' in the real world? Could you imagine the jealousy, etc.? But in order to enjoy (a lot) of Lora Leigh's books, you have to be willing to suspend disbelief, and treat it as a fantasy (I try not to over-think it)! If you go on with the series, be sure to read the 4th and final book, it wraps up the story very nicely! I don't want to give it away, but let's just say 'they come to their senses'! lol It's called "August Heat" and it's in the anthology "The Twelve Quickies of Christmas". If you're interested, let me know, because I have this one too!

Daisiemae Man am I glad I am not the only one that feels this way! I am reading Heather's Gift now...I'll probably finish it today.
I just can't understand the I love you and I love my brother, but I love you more than him, but I have to share you with him to prove bond with him idea...good grief!

Marion I don't care for the menage either, or public sex. But as Auntee said if you enjoy Lora Leigh books you put up with it. She does write some hot sex scenes.

Daisiemae Your right Marion. That is why I have a Love/Hate relationship with it...lol.

Tammy Holy crap! I want to know the excuse behind the sharing, so I guess this one is going into my TBR pile too!!

Julie (jjmachshev) Ladies,
If you want a book with a believable reason for a menage, try the new Hara's Legacy by Bianca D'Arc or Cyborg Nation & Cyborg by Kaitlyn O'Connor. I'm like you guys...menage sounds hot, great for a fantasy...but can't see it working in reality.

Jen So does Sarah have to watch him with Marly and so on? Is that what ends up happening here? I read Marly and was wondering how the rest of the series would get on....

Julie (jjmachshev) Oh yeah...it's one big happy family boink session...
;P

Julie (jjmachshev) Well I did give my phrasing such careful consideration. There's always bonkathon,
pork rollup, menageatwist, and don't forget the ever popular scronk. Decisions, decisions...

Hey! Y'all think my Mom would be proud of my awesome verbal gymnastics??
J

Auntee PORK ROLLUP??!! ROTFLMAO!

Collette LOL! Scronk! I love that one!
I'm sure your mom would be very proud, Julie.

Great review, btw. :) Now I'll have to get cracking on Colter's Woman and also add The August Men to my "must aquire" list.

Laura Julie--
I don't know if your mom would be proud of your verbal gymnastics, but I am. *wicked smile*

Auntie--
You think she's funny on Goodreads? You should meet Julie in person. She goes on like this nonstop. She is a hoot! I LOVE THIS WOMAN!! It's a good thing she brought her three men with her to my booksigning. The mall would have been in SERIOUS danger if we had spent more time together. Yeah, we were getting really WILD and loving every minute of it. *naughty smile*

Julie (jjmachshev) I guess I would have to admit that my Dad's a retired preacher for you to get the full benefit of the Mom comment...

Jen Ok, I'm just now reading this review and the comments to follow. Julie.... OMG, you have me crying over here with your verbal gymnastics. Laura's right, you are a total hoot and a holler in person.

I've read the Men of August series too and I'm with yall, I don't see that little household working in real life but for the sake of reading the series, I just tried to keep an open mind about it. Have yall read the Nauti Boys series? They're cousins to the August men. The 3rd book comes out, I think, in August or September.

Julie (jjmachshev) For a listing of upcoming books...check out my Amazon wishlists organized by month (i.e., 0708, 0808, 0908, etc). They're on there up to Feb09. If you can see the notes section, the actual day of release is there. You may have to search under Julie L. Anderson

Now THAT'S anal!!
