bookshelves: police, alex-cross, paperback

After I bashed Patterson's "Big Bad Wolf" & "Four Blind Mice", I thought I would stop buying his Alex Cross books, but had already purchased "Mary, Mary" and this tome, "Cross" beforehand. I am glad now that I did, and recently picked up more Cross mysteries.
In this novel, Alex Cross finds himself chasing his wife's killer, while the Butcher is doing plenty of killing of his own. While the killer's motivation goes from being a mob hitman to revenge, his brutal style doesn't change, and he has to be stopped. Cross, further motivated by the recently learned fact that the Butcher killed his first wife, does everything he can to stop him. If you like high body counts, sadistic killers, and a determined police detective, you'll like "Cross".
