really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, young-adult

I got this book because of the title. I grew up in Zanesville ohio, but this book was set in Zanesville IL. (Who knew there were other Zanesvilles?)

The writing style of this book felt very much like being a 14 year old girl. It was a little disjointed and hazy in spots, but that is how I felt when I was that age. The peripheral way the adults drift in and out of the story and the way the girls seemed to only pay a token amount of attention to them and their drama was also appropriate to their age. The interpersonal relationships seemed spot on.

I thought this book was well-written, if not exactly exciting. It reminded me that I am glad I never have to be a teenage girl again.

Claire I don't think I knew that about you. I grew up on Coshocton. Small world!

Ser I also thought it was going to be set in Zanesville, Ohio. I think your review is spot-on: just how I felt about the book.
