I think the problems I had with this book have more to do with me than the writing. The writing is fine. It's even funny at times. But the main story--break up of a short-lived marriage--just made me want to know about what happened to the author's short-lived marriage more. (See? MY problem.)

And I just can't stand to read sports writing, even if the sports being written about is something as seemingly awesome as roller derby. (I have seen "Whip It," read much about derby, and have watched some bouts on YouTube. I still have NO IDEA how the game works.)

So, I'd say 2 1/2 stars, really. Just kind of OK.
