Over all I think this was a worthy book but I can't give it more than 3 stars because the subject matter is so over done. I did like the idea of showing the future repercussions of a viral outbreak combined with a mythological impact of a familiar monster. The story did keep me turning pages and the characters were, for the most part, identifiable. I had a little trouble with the constant switching of plot lines during the most severe of situations though. I know it is a viable plot device but it was a little overdone. I, for one, often need a resolution before moving into another direction, and with three or more strands going at once I was a little irritated.
And, of course, as with most story lines these days the door is wide open for multiple followup books. Just more waiting around for us readers to gain a little resolution amidst the sea of novels in which we are adrift.
