** spoiler alert ** This book is a very touching, loving, quick read novel by James Patterson. Jennifer receives news that her grandmother is in a coma. She races to Lake Geneva to see her. At Sam's cabin on the lake she finds a pile of letters from Sam. It is Sam's story. Jennifer is shocked to read her grandmother's story and how she never loved her grandfather and how she had an affair with a man whom she called "Doc." As Jennifer reads her stories while she is in a coma, she falls in love with herself with Brendan. At times he seems like he is hiding things. She finally finds out what it is...he is dying from a deadly form of brain cancer. He is living each day in the moment, and isn't going forward with the experimental surgery. One day he leaves Jennifer with a note of his own, he is saying goodbye and isn't coming back. She freaks out and sets off to find him. He decided to get the surgery done so that he can spend more time with Jennifer. Of course, Sam wakes up from her coma to meet him. Jennifer learns who "Doc" is. All is fine and dandy, until Sam passes away. There is a happy ending...Jennifer gets married and has a baby girl named Sam with Brendan.
