One-word summary? WOW.

THE DEMON'S SURRENDER was everything I expected and more (and trust me, I had pretty high expectations after The Demon's Covenant).

Sarah Rees Brennan is not afraid of taking her characters to very dark places, which just makes it all the more satisfying when they triumph – a heart-wrenchingly wonderful sort of book. And I was hooked from the very first chapter - my heart was in my mouth so many times and the twisty fast-moving plot (my internal commentary was along the lines of "Could it be? Nah! It is! Nooooo!") kept me reading well into the early hours of the morning.

If I could have had anything more in SURRENDER, it would be more POVs (and more Jamie!), but that's really a reflection of the fact I fell in love with the story and the world and just wanted to know EVERYTHING and more. Alan and Nick and Mae and Jamie were as fantastic as they have been in previous books. As for Sin - I admit I had doubts about her as the main narrator initially - I'm not sure why I ever doubted now, she was the perfect narrator and I was cheering her on throughout.

SURRENDER is, well, it's action-packed, full of feeling - you laugh and weep with the characters - and I closed the book feeling thoroughly satisfied. And as a bonus, it's set in London. What could be better?

Hirondelle ohhh. Getting excited. I read and liked very much book 1, got book 2 but have not read it yet. Now trilogy is complete, I might not resist book 2 much longer.

Li I liked the second book so much more than the first, and ummm... it's rather obvious how much I loved the third one. Possibly my favourite book of the year so far.

Renee Can't wait to read this! I'm on the library wait-list for it. Now, you're tempting me to just go for it, and get the audiobk from Audible. (The previous audiobooks were excellent.)

Hirondelle That is really good news, I hope I will have the same reaction. Oh well, I got to go dig up my copy of number 2. I admit I sometimes wait till series I complete for reading them. though why didn´t I do it for asoiaf?

Li I pretty much bought the ebook as soon as it was released, though I hung on for the weekend!

I find myself doing this now and again as well - it's not something I used to do, but it stops me being frustrated when they have cliffhanger endings. And there is something to be said for being able to read ALL the books in one go.

I also do this, tho' sometimes that runs the risk of my losing interest in the series when I allow myself such a long break between books. (I've got a short attention span. :-P )

Hirondelle There are some authors I have sort of given up on because of cliffhanger endings - Rachel Caine, Kelley Armstrong. Renee, my trick is to not try to not spend too much money (hardcover money) in such series, to buy paperback, or try to swap , or if a friend has it and can loan, so if I loose interest it will do not much harm - and maybe losing interest can be a good thing, my book greed is out of bounds ;)
