Think Stephanie Plum with a supernatural ability. Meet Charlotte "Charley" Davidson, grim reaper and private investigator. She has been helping her father solve crimes since she was six years old with her power to see the recently deceased. I loved the concept and the humor in how the spirits envisioned Charley as the grim reaper. you might be surprisd to learn that it's not the ususal concept of dark and death that most movies portray. In fact, her job is all about light - as in she helps the recently deceased to make it through "the light" when things left to be resolved. There are many intersting characters she meets on her path. She refers to one of those spirits she sees as the "demon child" and then there is her lust/love interest, Reyes who is as much an enigma in his ways of romance as he is in character. Charley never knows when or where he's going to show up, but she is sure to find out more about him as the story progresses. Steamy sex scenes and curse language may deter some listeners. Otherwise, the talents of Lorelei King keep this story moving forward, fast-paced, action-filled and satisfying. I will definitely be on the lookout for the second in the series from this new author in paranormal chick lit.
