I really wanted to like this. I really thought I would like this. I didn't like this. Not really. Maybe it's me, but it seemed silly beyond words. It wasn't the "I can't believe this" factor. It was more along the lines of "Even if there were a world like this, the people in it would never think or act this way." It reminded me of a novel I read (I'll spare the author's name) in which a male author wrote in a first-person perspective from the point of view of a middle-aged mother. It flopped. The voice just never rang true. I don't know if Perry Moore is gay or not (and don't want to know). And I don't know how old he is (nor do I want to know). But the voice of the lead character doesn't sound even one decibel level to me genuine, not regarding the super powers, not in regards to being gay, and certainly not as an eighteen year old urban male. It's sad. I loved the idea, and the plot was lightning bolt fast. But this could have been so very much more than what it was.
