Amazingly plausible and saddening sci-fi plot. The narrative point of view creates a new perspective of the narrator's development as he progresses through the experiment performed upon him. Heart-wrenchingly good use of narrative techniques and one of few science-fiction books which evoke such a strong emotional response.
