This is the best Kate Shugak story yet. Of course, the other 17 are all excellent as Ms. Stabenow follows Kate's career through Alaska as she works at catching bad guys in various forms of police work.

This is a very complex tale with several mysteries covering a long span of time in Alaska's history...from before being a territory or a state.

The problems she faces as heir and executor of her "uncle's" estate lead her all over the state solving the puzzles he left for her.

This is a highly satisfying read, although the language and sex will be offensive to many.
