JFK was assassinated on my 9th birthday, and I think that prompted my lifelong fascination with the Kennedy clan. So, I was especially happy to win this ARC in the Goodreads Firstreads Giveaway.
I love memoirs and biographies, and this book is a bit of both. It chronicles the author's years-long friendship and, ultimately, love affair with John Kennedy Jr., and does so in absorbing fashion.
Ms. Haag has a gift for descriptive writing that draws a reader into her world and the people in it. At times, though, her storylines are disjointed, and I found myself having some trouble figuring out where I was in the story or what time period it was; things seemed to jump around quite a bit.
One thing that comes through loud and clear in this book is Ms. Haag's deep respect for Kennedy, and she's not afraid to describe her struggles, emotions and vulnerabilities. I like the fact that she kept the physical details of their relationship to herself; this is not a "kiss-and-tell" tale.
I was particularly fascinated by the parts of this book in which Jackie Kennedy, John's mother appears. She was an interesting, mysterious woman whom I always like to learn more about.
All in all, this is an enjoyable book and a quick read. Anyone interested in the Kennedy family would probably like it.

Sue, I think if you become a "fan" of the author, that is what causes it to show up on your home page. (You have to go to the author's page and click that button.) This is different than "following" the author, which is also an option on some of their pages. Give that a try and see if it works for you. If not, let me know and I'll explore a little further and see if I remember how to do it ...

Okay, I figured out that when you push the "like" button, it doesn't mean you wrote anything. But, still can't get my home page to list my favorite authors, like yours does.
