A very interesting take on the Holocaust and I learned a lot about how the French treated Jews. You think it was just the Germans but no, it wasn't. I enjoyed how the story switched back and forth between the present day story and the story unfolding in 1942. I did not want to put this book down and would have finished it sooner if my Nook hadn't froze up on me halfway through causing me to have to get a new Nook!! LOL I almost felt as if the ending left me hanging but it was really fine. I can use my imagination to make it end how I think it should since Tatiana de Rosnay got it started for me. ;)
