** spoiler alert ** Nicholas Sparks' books always warm my heart because his characters believe in second chances of love. Which is what happens to the main character Julie. Julie's husband died and she was heart broken afterwards until later in the years she finds two wonderful men, Richard Franklin and Mike Harris. Of course she can only choose to be with one of them. What impressed me is that her husband still has influence on the things she does by making her promise him that she is able to find love again. The book I have to say was quite slow and the beginning and didn't make much sense to me, then I also found the book very suspenseful and definitely a page turner towards the end because I wanted to see how things turned out. The ending was the saddest part though. Just like in every Nicholas Sparks book, the sadness is expressed by death and of course the dog just has to die. I honestly hate it when animals die in books, especially when they contain a major roll. The dog turned out to be "The Guardian", which I thought was very sweet considering her husband left it as a gift for her before he passed. If you enjoy sad, romance novels.. I recommend this book!
