This is by far my favorite Patterson book I have read (at least up to this point, but there are so many more to read). The story is exciting and the villain of the tale is such a great character. Actually, I found myself liking the psychotic killer and was almost rooting for him...very odd. The tale is about a former police officer, turned author, turned newspaper writer, going to Hawaii to report on a missing swimsuit model. While down there he gets in with the parents of the missing girl and tries to help them figure out the mystery only to find himself tangled in the diabolical scheme of an artistic killer. I really do not want to give anything else away because this book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering where is was going and I think that added to its greatness. The book was written brilliantly and I would recommend it for anyone who is able to digest somewhat sick/twisted scenes.
