Yankee seemed to be a name that Gracie called her love and it had several meanings. Southern literature encompasses much and now TRUE GRIT was recently remade in film and called Southern Lit when everyone knows it is a western. Many of us are left wondering. Our youngest son was born while their Dad was working in Alabama and when he grew up, ventured out on his own with new love, moved there to build America. Gracie did not have this choice when she was given away, left as a newborn baby on a porch in Shady Grove. Harper Collins is going the way of most publishers and a glaring typo on page 3 is evident to even me. Great story and who could not like the ending.
