I finished this ages ago but I guess I just couldn't let go of it so i am only now getting around to updating. Such a deep deep pleasure, richly rewarding in every way. Even though I had a sense of the main characters and the plot, there were so many surprises on both fronts. I loved it and look forward to rereading it when I've forgotten enough.

Lael Jacobs I'm so glad you're reading this! I still kind of miss the characters after finishing this novel a year ago. Curious to hear what you think.

Rebecca Loving it so far. I'm about 1/3 of the way through.

Lael Jacobs Rebecca, I'm glad you finished this and enjoyed it so much. I'm contemplating trying another Eliot novel soon, I've missed this one so.

Rebecca Have you ever read Mill on the Floss? I used to teach it and it is great. I've never read Silas Marner but for some reason i have the impression that it is deadly dull. probably because i knew people who were assigned to read it when they were too young (i think it is relatively short). I don't know anything about Daniel Deronda.
