I was born and raised in the mid-west and barely set foot on the eastern side of the Mississippi River, however, after reading this book, I feel like I just moved in with Stephanie Plum's family in Jersey.
I never was one to read many here-and-now type books, but I really enjoyed this one. Her grandmother was nosy. Her sister was due to deliver her third child at any moment and she was a major comfort eater. Her best friend and coworker was obsessed with food and determined to become a supermodel, so any diet was the diet of the moment as long as it involved eating. Her boyfriend was a cop who barely tolerated her job, which was that of a bounty hunter.
As if that wasn't enough excitement, someone somewhere decides to start sending her red roses and white carnations along with very disturbing cards and emails suggesting an imminent death - hers. Subtle death threats not withstanding, life simply must go on. Rent has to be paid and one must eat.
You really must read this book to see how Stephanie Plum manages to make it through her life while hunting down perps dodging their court date. And I only mentioned a few of the people Stephanie has in her life. Read the book and meet the rest of them - you won't regret it.
