A pretty good rendering on one of my favorite historical periods; good and historically accurate portraits and a fast pace make this one an enjoyable read though not quite at the level of the best novels about the times (Dumas for sheer narrative and Hillary Mantel for a great literary account still are unbeatable)

I liked the book even though I read tons about the subject including quite a few other ecent novels and if you are less familiar with the period and only vaguely know how things turn out, you may like it even more.
