The Grief Performance is a collection of poems that mines the beauty of sadness and detachment. Which, for someone like me, is pure gold.

Many of the poems read like haiku: effortlessly concise, poignant, and then seemingly gone into the ether - except that they are for the most part completely unforgettable.

The longer pieces work just as well, stringing isolated moments together into a cohesive whole that becomes blissfully transcendent.

This is a fine book that resonates more strongly with each reading.
