Not my favorite. My qualms with this one lie mostly with the editing. I think the first half should stand alone, and the second half should be combined with the next book. One of the difficulties common, I'm sure, to "novelizing" stories that were originally serialized.

I also was rather displeased with the character progressions of all four of "The Musketeers". Aramis is now greedy and conniving, Porthos is dumber and stronger than ever, Athos is alright in the first half but becomes increasingly boring in the second half, and d'Artagnan seems so flat by the end compared with how he was first introduced in The Three Musketeers.
