bookshelves: action

*** "May there be a road" is ten stories by Louis L'Amour with his classic admirable hero who combines brain and brawn under difficult conditions. The title account has Mongol-style villagers bravely staving off Chinese machine guns on a winter mountain. Other war action swoops over revolutionary Brazil. Detectives are strong, brave, smart, and in other collections. Cactus Kid, we know elsewhere as far-ranging Clay, fights for and lets go a Spanish senorita and her estate. "The Ghost Fighter" is one boxing story I could follow and finish, about a lookalike champion.
