I read this book because it was assigned in class. We read so many other good books that this one paled in comparison. Chasing Redbird isn't bad, but it isn't really good either. It's a story of a girl's strange way of coping with grief and how she feels compelled to define herself as something other than just one of many siblings in a large family. I suppose this might be a good read for an adolescent who has experienced the loss of a loved one or who has many siblings. I'm okay with parts of the story being a little far-fetched. However, the story is a bit strange.
