overrated-crap
Mawkish and saccharine. The animal illustrations are gorgeous and extremely realistic--which clashes totally with the idea of the story. I'd rather see anthropomorphized animals in dresses any day of the week--at least I could see THEM going to school!
This is another of the books that adults rave about but don't have much kid appeal. Give them something better. Try "Take A Kiss To School" by McAllister if you insist on animals with kisses in their pocket. Better still, try "Eliza's Kindergarten Surprise" by McGinty, where a real little girl finds that the kiss in HER pocket doesn't help that much, but on her own finds a way to deal with those first day jitter.
