I am not familiar with the German fairytale of “Tristan and Isolde” , so I did not know what to expect when reading this book. It’s a story about a girl who seems to live an ordinary life. But, behind the popular persona and jock boyfriend is a world of magic that she must keep hidden. Magic has always been apart of Izzie’s life because of her mother and father’s powers. However, she soon discovers she’s not as ordinary as she was led to believe. When Tristan arrives Izzie’s world is suddenly turned upside down. She’s thrown into a battle she didn’t know existed and everything depends on her harnessing her gift. I thought the story was cute and inventive. However, the plot seemed to jump around a bit and sometimes I was left confused with where the story was going. The characters were a little fickle and I had a hard time connecting with them. Overall I liked the story and I give it 3 stars.
