it was amazing
bookshelves: 1960s, poetry, 2011-reads

Read in March, 2011 , read count: 3

I have a copy of this book & I love it. I don't really know when I read it, but it would have to have been sometime in the 1960s. I probably wouldn't have given this a 5 now, but I still enjoyed it.

In the poem Nest Eggs in the Garden Days section, "Staring like gabies …" The Kindle dictionary didn't have it, Wikipedia didn't have it, so I did a Google search, it is British midland dialect & means to gape."

Cleo I wish I could find mine. Does it start with Jill came from the fair with her pennies all spent?

Rayni No, the first poem is "Bed in Summer."

In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle light
In summer quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day.

I downloaded it to my Kindle4PC so I can read it again.

Rayni Cleo, I googled that line & it was written by Eleanor Farjeon. I've never heard of her before.
