really liked it
bookshelves: children-books, participation

This is a great story, which can easily and efficinetly be acted out as a large group. This story provides several different types of animals, which can interest children in younger grades. I believe this book can also help children use predictions and cause & effect strategies while reading.

Alexa Maring I have seen this done where after reading this book aloud a few times each student is assigned an animal. As the story is told they crawl into the mitten (really a large tent made from a bed sheet). It was such a cute way to keep students engaged and interested. This role play allowed them to share the story with other classes.
