This was a really good memoir. Rodney Crowell is a country singer songwriter who grew up poor in Houston Texas. His father was an alcoholic who had dreams of being a honky tonk singer and his mother was a fire and brimstone pentecostal who had epilepsy. Together they had a very rough and sometimes violent relationship. Crowell writes well about his frustation and anger at his parents while also coming to a place of love and acceptance of them. Great read and he gave a great interview on NPR Fresh Air.
