I really liked this debut thriller from Mr. Golemon, and simply devoured the second half of the novel as the blood and gore spilt readily from the pages. While it seemed most of the main characters could withstand just about any attack suffered at the hands of the alien invaders, others did not which made for the occasional surprise. I do hope that the characters become more fully drawn in the next books, as many of the survivors represent the same old stand-by stereotypes present in similar pieces. And why are so many of the "hero" characters in these novels get named "Jack". Maybe someday we'll have the strong, military-trained protagonist from one of these novels named Cecil. Until then, I will certainly recommend to any one who is a fan of James Rollins and Douglas Preston to check out David Golemon. You will certainly like what you find.
