I’m in the process of finishing up this book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. So far, this book has been fabulous. I started reading this while I was on vacation and couldn’t get into it. I think it had something to do with college football being on…

In any event, this book was the story of Francesca Day and Dallas Beaudine. These two meet when Franci is down on her luck, but still living like a princess. Her circumstances keep getting worse, until she hits rock bottom in Texas, with only 25 cents in her pockets. This is another of Phillips great turn-around stories and it’s been a page-turner thus far (I’m about 2/3 through). Phillips contends that this book was her first “funny” book–the one where she finally found her voice as an author. I’m typically skeptical of many authors’ early works, simply because the “voice” is often different. In this case, her “voice” is very consistent, and keeps getting better. High marks on this one.
