Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant

My immediate reaction on reading this was: why the hell would you write a book like this, let alone read it? (I read it for book club.) It was miserable characters leading miserable lives. Which were also boring. There was maybe 1.5 characters with any redeeming features (it was hard to tell about the sister), and everyone else was perfectly awful. The one decent guy got constantly shat upon by everyone else in the book and, gods, *why*??? If you want misery, follow the news.
I usually reserve one star reviews for books too awful to finish, but...this one nearly ranks.

Uhoh. I was already wary of this one, anticipating a not-so-good read and not looking forward to spending the time on it. Now I'm even more unexcited.
