I really like Davies' writing, even though sometimes the philosophical discourse makes me impatient for plot movement. In this book, nothing much happened until the final chapters. I almost gave up but I'm glad I didn't.

321737 I haven't read all of Deptford yet, but Fifth Business was the one I read that caused me to read more Davies.

I liked The Cunning Man too. Was that the one with the country doctor? It's been awhile since I read that one.

How about The Salterton Trilogy? Did you like that one?
