A little disappointed with this book. I felt like this book was a lot of background into how the election works in the USA for Supreme Court Judges, but not really a strong story line. I didn't really connect fully with the characters for that reason, so didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I would. Grisham is one of my favourite authors, but this won't be one of my favourite books. I did like that I got an insight into the process of elections, but not within a 355 page book.

Warning: A possible spoiler alert ahead:
I was surprised with the ending. I had in my head what the outcome would be, but Grisham surprised me. In some ways, I was happy not to have the 'happy ending' you expect in most books, but at the same time, it just didn't seem right, that justice hadn't been done. That's life, I guess, but I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling at the end! One good thing about Grisham's writing however, was that you felt for the little guy/under dog, naturally. However the 'villain' chose his 'puppet" to use to win his case, but because this puppet was a nice guy and unaware of the larger picture and the part he played, you were kind of on his side, wanting him to be elected, even though that might be bad news for the little guy. Well written when you are hoping for both sides to win, in a way!
