After many years of war between the various alien races and humans, there is now peace and the races co-exist on Earth together. Despite the harmony there are some aliens who desire humans as slaves.

Eden Black is a Raka, a race of peaceful aliens hunted for their beautiful golden skin and hair. After her parents were brutally murdered, young Eden was raised by Michael, the head of an ultra-secret alien assassination agency that eliminates aliens that prey on humans. Eden is one of his top assassins and her latest mission is to infiltrate the slave trade, and kill the head man. As ENSLAVE ME SWEETLY commences Eden is nearly killed in a covert operation and so Michael assigns her a partner, Lucius Adaire. Eden is horrified that Michael has assigned her a ‘babysitter’ but it looks like she has met her match and as they work together battling the slaver, the romance battle commences as well.

To find out how the slavers travel between worlds, Eden decides to let herself be captured and sold at one of his bidding parties. Lucius has infiltrated the slaver network and it is arranged that he is to be the buyer of Eden. Of course being a romance; things don’t go according to plan and the two lovers have a lot of hurdles to overcome before they can even think of reaching a happy ending.

ENSLAVE ME SWEETLY is the second book in a series, but as I have not read the first I can honestly say that it reads as a standalone. This is my first book by Gena Showalter and she has blended romance and suspense in a futuristic society very convincingly.
